FCT Recovery touted in NC Opioid Response

As part of Burke County North Carolina’s opioid settlement investments, SPARC Services a multi-state FCT provider, has expanded its services to include Family‑Centered Treatment Recovery (FCT‑R)—an evidence‑informed, intensive, in‑home approach designed to support families impacted by substance use disorder.

Prior to receiving settlement funding, SPARC already specialized in Family Centered Treatment (FCT). With the new allocation, SPARC practitioners completed additional specialized training in FCT‑R, which includes fourteen extra recovery‑focused modules beyond the standard FCT curriculum. This enhanced training equips providers to address substance use recovery alongside family functioning and stability.

FCT‑R works with the entire household, not just the individual in recovery. Services are delivered in the home, where clinicians help families understand how substance use has shaped family dynamics and support them in rebuilding healthy roles, communication, and routines. The model recognizes that recovery affects—and is affected by—the whole family system.

Through regular in‑home visits, structured assessments, cooperation evaluations, and mental‑health‑informed skill‑building, SPARC’s FCT‑R team helps families develop practical tools to function as a unified support system in recovery. The goal is to reduce relapse risk by addressing the family‑level impacts of substance use and strengthening long‑term stability.

This investment positions FCT‑R as a key component of Burke County’s broader recovery continuum—complementing peer support, post‑overdose response, and outpatient treatment by ensuring families have the support they need to heal together.
