FCT is now an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) through NBCC

The Family Centered Treatment (FCT) Foundation, Inc® announced that FCT clinicians can now obtain continuing education credit units (CEUs) towards Licensure, as FCT was recently endorsed as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) through the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC). This change supports the ongoing learning and development of credentialed professionals providing FCT, and recognizes the excellent quality of the FCT training program curriculum.

“I am very pleased to be able to offer CEUs to all FCT Practitioners, Trainers, and Supervisors,” said John Sullivan, President of the FCTF Board of Directors. “Speaking as one of the founders and an early front line staff member, I know that learning never ends. FCT has always been an evolutionary model. We are constantly adding new and more effective interventions. This happens because the families that we serve and the FCT staff in the field never stop teaching us how to improve.”

The majority of clinicians providing FCT are licensed professionals or those in process of obtaining licensure. All professional counseling licensing boards require ongoing continuing education, therefore this provision on behalf of the Foundation is an added perk to FCT training and clinician job responsibilities.

The comprehensive Wheels of Change® training curriculum of FCT is rich with emotionally focused therapy components, trauma informed care practices, and family systems theory along with further incorporated modalities. Clinicians who complete the curriculum liken it to graduate level coursework. Now, in conjunction with clinicians learning a myriad of therapy techniques, they will also be able to count the training time towards continuing education requirements set forth by their respective licensure board.

"This is an exciting achievement for the FCT Foundation and our Wheels of Change Training platform,” notes Tim Wood, Executive Director, FCT Foundation. “We at the Foundation see this as a critical next step in recruiting, training, and retaining highly competent, value-driven personnel for our FCT organizations. Likewise, we are honored that NBCC has endorsed the Foundation’s ability to train hundreds of personnel impacting thousands of families every year."

FCT providers and clinicians wishing to learn more about receiving CEUs for their training time should contact Stephanie Glickman at Stephanie.Glickman(at)familycenteredtreatment.org or 704-617-5597.
